Admission Regulations

For an enrolment to be confirmed the student must:
  • meet the minimum requirements for entry. These may be established by the Polytechnic, or prescribed by external authorities, and will be published to applicants in promotional material, application forms and course outlines or regulations;
  • provide complete, verified documentary evidence of their full legal name, age, residential status and gender;
  • provide an approved school exemption certificate from the Ministry of Education if they are under 16 years of age;
  • state their iwi affiliation if they identified themselves as New Zealand Maori;
  • provide accurate information about the last secondary school attended;
  • pay all fees before the commencement of their study, (if applicable);
  • comply with all relevant Northland Polytechnic policies and procedures
  • Entry is open, however students must be able to demonstrate that they have a reasonable chance of success.
  • There are no pre-requisite courses, as the programme is based at basic entry level
  • Applicants for whom English is their second language refer to the policy English Language Entrance A98/22. .

Process for Collecting Verification

At enrolment we will need you to supply the following documents:

  • birth certificate or passport
  • plus deed poll or marriage certificate if the name being used is different to that on the birth certificate or passport
  • proof of New Zealand residency (if applicable).

A certified copy may be used. A certified copy is a photocopy of your original documentation that has been signed as true and accurate. They can be signed by a Justice of the Peace, School Principal, Solicitor, General Practitioner (GP), Minister of Religion or a Pharmacist.

Course Withdrawal Policy

If you wish to withdraw from some or all of your papers,/modules, you must complete a Withdrawal/Refund Application Form'. This form is available from the Registry phone 0800 162 100.

Withdrawal after the first two weeks of a course will be recorded on your academic record.
Withdrawal after 75% of the course will result in a fail grade.

Privacy

Northland Polytechnic collects and stores information from this form to comply with the requirements of the Ministry of Education and other Government agencies. The information is also used for internal processes, such as student selection, surveys and administration. Information about students may be supplied to, and sought from school and other educational institutions for the purpose of verifying academic records and providing information on student progress.

When required by law, Northland Polytechnic release information to Government agencies. You will find details of the agencies that may be supplied with information in the Northland Polytechnic Registration Guide.

In completing this Registration Form you authorise such disclosure on the understanding that Northland Polytechnic will observe the general conditions governing the release of information, as set out in the Privacy Act 1993. You may see any information held about you and amend any errors in that information. To do so, contact the Registry.
